New baby boy born last week: JimmyLee with mom, Trishia, and grandmother Charmaine.

Trisha’s mom wrote the following :

Dear Margi:

First of all, I want to thank you and the Culture of Life organization for your support.  When Trisha arrived in San Diego a couple of months ago to pursue her career, she struggled with trying to locate housing and also could not afford it.  However, through the support of this organization, Trisha was able to secure housing for herself, 21 month old Malachi and her new baby boy “JR” who is just shy of one week old.  There were many doors closed to Trisha.  Organizations that assist homeless were not able to address her needs- housing, food, and items needed in the apartment.  And therefore, without your support, Trisha’s dreaming of attending school would have been just that, a “dream”.  Not only is she attending school, have shelter, furniture, but I, her mother, was able to come from Illinois to be with her during the birth of baby boy – who by the way, weighed 9lb 8oz.  In short, the support Trisha has got from this organization speaks to me.  Not only am I appreciative of the support, but I’m so encouraged by the love that I also want to make an impact on someone’s life!  Thank you.

Charmaine scribbled this note on a pad of paper today while waiting for her daughter to have her follow up with Dr. Delgado. Thanks to you all, the family is in safe housing until November.  By that time, Trisha may be able to obtain housing on her own.

For those who have offered furniture, diapers, wipes, high chair, mattress, dresser- please call Trisha and/or Charmaine at (619) 852 3180.  They don’t have a car, but perhaps something can be arranged to help them obtain these needed items.

• We received a very nice, handwritten note from Turning Point Pregnancy Center in Mira Mesa. 

  Dear Dr. Delgado and staff,

  I’m writing this letter with deep appreciation and gratitude for all you do for the pro-life community.  I’m the Executive Director of Turning Point Pregnancy Resource Center in Mira Mesa.  Since becoming the director in June of 2006, I’ve referred countless women to your office for an ultrasound.  They varied in age, circumstances, race, creed, etc. but all had one thing in common: they were pregnant and abortion minded.  You and your staff were always ready to make room to see these women, regardless of their ability to pay for your services, or not matter how busy you were.  Not only is that a tremendous resource for our center but you’ve helped SAVE UNBORN BABIES!

• My name is Tina and I am 37 and a native of San Diego, California.  My story happens to be a very good one, thanks especially to Culture of Life Family Services organization.  See, I found I was pregnant and really had no one to turn to.  I had an appointment to (I hate to say it) abort my baby.  But, I believe God stepped in as I was walking down the street one day, I came upon a sign.  It was a Pregnancy Help Center.  I went in and they gave me an ultrasound.  From then on, I could not do that to my child inside of me.  I listened to them and got advice to see a specific doctor – who was a great help.  His name is Dr. Delgado and the Culture of Life Family Services.  They referred me to a wonderful maternity home.  (I was homeless).  There, I received guidance and a home.  Everyday, I thank God for my wonderful, healthy and happy baby girl, Desiree.   She is here because of great advice and caring.  Now, I am happy with child and also more grown up then I could have ever hoped for.

John & Deanna Shumate are proud parents. They graciously share their story of coming to COLFS.

“My husband and I have a conviction not to use contraceptives in our marriage for spiritual and health reasons. When he proposed to me in 2004, we needed to find Natural Family Planning (NFP) instruction. This was hard to find in San Diego. I came across Culture of Life Family Services on the web and we started learning the Creighton Model System (CrMS) from Catherine Breen when we got married. We had been waiting 8 years to be married and start a family, so finding an NFP method that helped build a stronger marriage was wonderful. The CrMS brought us both to a deeper appreciation of the marriage relationship. We used CrMS for one year to post-pone pregnancy and then for one month to achieve it!

I also needed a doctor that practiced OBGYN and we both needed primary care physician. We found this in Dr. Delgado. We love his appreciation for life and the heart behind his medical practices. Dr. Delgado treated me through my pregnancy, delivered our daughter and is now her pediatrician. It is a blessing to see the Christ’s heart in our family. We are excited to know all that COLFS offers in support of life.
