Volunteering with Culture of Life Family Services (COLFS) is an experience of charity, joy and spiritual growth. Our volunteers help COLFS provide a service which affects many lives and is one of truth and guided by the Holy Spirit.
Volunteers are an essential part of COLFS mission and provides a great opportunity to be involved in many different aspects of our Pro-Life ministry. From office work to counseling to coordinating parish activities, we can use all skill levels.
We do rely on professionals as well if you have a medical or professional background. If you are one of the following, you could also impact our mission greatly and give back to the community by donating your time to COLFS:
- OBGYN
- Nurse or Nurse Practitioner
- Sonogram Tech (Sonographer)
- Attorney
- Accountant or CPA
- Social Media Expert
- Construction, Electrician or other trades
Some of the daily tasks where we always need volunteers are:
- Computer data entry and various office work
- Baby Bottle Drive - labels, inserts, stuffing, parish coordination
- Phone calls
- Money counting
- Speaking on behalf of COLFS
- Represent COLFS at events, fairs, talks, etc.
- Donated items inventory control
- And many more opportunities to aid in COLFS ministry
Handmaid Program
A new program is being implemented to care for moms in unplanned crisis pregnancies. We are interviewing women who would prayerfully consider becoming a Handmaid (mentor) for our crisis patients.
The Handmaid program is a pro-life volunteer ministry of Culture of Life Family Services (COLFS). Handmaids support and mentor pregnant mothers who are in an unplanned crisis situation. Handmaids are called to give the love of Christ to the mothers they help.
By employing their individual talents, collaborating with COLFS and utilizing community resources, Handmaids stand ready to provide a mother with the kinds of assistance that she needs in caring for her child. These may include: ongoing friendship and emotional support, mentoring, various material and physical needs.
Assistant Handmaids
Assistant Handmaids help on a more limited basis and might help several Moms with a particular need, such as preparing a meal for the family after Mom comes home from the hospital after delivering the baby. Some volunteers enjoy taking a Mom to lunch at a restaurant or they may welcome her to lunch in their home. Some volunteers contribute their talents by knitting blankets and others may baby-sit or do shopping for Mom. Whatever they do, all volunteers that assist Moms in need act as the Body of Christ and bring love and hope to Moms through their acts of kindness.
In order to become a Handmaid or Assistant Handmaid, please email Ashley Burns and you will be asked to fill out a volunteer application. An interview and training sessions will follow. Thank you for prayerfully considering this important volunteer ministry of COLFS.
For Handmaid or other volunteer information email Ashley Burns at aburns@colfs.org or call 619-886-7881. Thank you and God bless.
