Well Child Visits: Ensuring Healthy Growth and Development
Well child visits are a cornerstone of pediatric healthcare at COLFS Medical Clinic. These visits are essential for monitoring your child's health, growth, and development, ensuring that they are meeting important milestones. Our team of healthcare professionals works with parents to assess every aspect of their child's well-being and to address any concerns or questions that may arise.
From birth onward, well child visits are an integral part of your child’s healthcare journey. At each visit, we assess a variety of factors, including physical health, cognitive and motor skills, and social development. We also conduct routine developmental screenings, which help identify any early signs of potential issues, so that timely interventions can be made if necessary.
The recommended schedule for well child visits is as follows:
The First Year
1-5 days after birth
1 Month
2 Months
4 Months
6 Months
9 Months
12 Months
Toddler & Preschool Years
15 Months
18 Months
2 Years
2 ½ Years
3 Years
4 Years
5 Years
During these visits, we perform a comprehensive physical exam, update immunizations, and discuss your child's growth and any concerns you may have.
Whether you're a first-time parent or seasoned caregiver, we are here to guide you and provide valuable insights into your child's health.

Developmental Screenings: Supporting Your Child at Every Stage
At COLFS Medical Clinic, we believe that tracking your child’s development is just as important as monitoring their physical health. That’s why comprehensive developmental screenings are an integral part of every well-child visit. These screenings are a simple and effective way for us to partner with you to celebrate your child’s progress and identify any areas where they might need extra support to reach their full potential.
During these screenings, our experienced pediatric team will observe and discuss your child's progress in four key areas:
-
Motor Skills: How your child moves their body, from lifting their head and rolling over to grasping objects, crawling, and eventually walking and running.
-
Social and Emotional Skills: How your child interacts with others, including making eye contact, smiling, expressing emotions, and learning to play.
-
Language and Communication: How your child understands and communicates their needs, from cooing and babbling to speaking their first words and forming sentences.
-
Cognitive Skills: How your child thinks, learns, and solves problems, such as exploring new toys with curiosity, recognizing familiar faces, and following simple instructions.
A Partnership with Parents
We understand that every child develops at their own unique pace. These screenings are not a test, but a conversation. You know your child best, and your insights are invaluable to us.
If a screening suggests your child could benefit from extra support, we will discuss the findings with you compassionately and clearly. Our goal is to provide timely interventions and connect you with the right resources. Early support is key to helping every child thrive, and we are here to guide you every step of the way.

Sick Child Visits: Quick and Effective Care
When your child is unwell, it’s important to get timely care to alleviate their discomfort and prevent further complications. Our Sick Child Visits are designed to address immediate healthcare needs and are typically available the same day you call. Our pediatric team will quickly assess your child's symptoms, diagnose any illnesses, and provide treatment recommendations.
Whether your child has a fever, cough, sore throat, or any other common illness, our healthcare professionals will offer the support needed to help them feel better soon. If necessary, we can prescribe medication, recommend home care strategies, and provide advice to help manage your child’s condition.
The Sick Child Visit service at COLFS Medical Clinic is designed to relieve your concerns and ensure that your child receives the best care possible, when they need it the most.
To schedule a Sick Child Visit, please call (760) 741-1224 or fill out the form.

Immunizations and Vaccinations at COLFS Medical Clinic
At COLFS Medical Clinic, we believe that vaccinations are one of the most important tools for ensuring the health and well-being of our community. From infancy through adulthood, immunizations are a cornerstone of preventive care, protecting individuals and families from a wide range of preventable diseases. Our team is committed to providing comprehensive vaccination services for patients at every stage of life in a supportive and informative environment.
Pediatric Immunizations: Protecting Your Child’s Health
Well-child visits at COLFS Medical Clinic are the foundation of your child’s healthcare journey. A crucial part of these regular check-ups is ensuring your child is up-to-date on their immunizations. Our pediatric team follows the recommended vaccination schedules to protect your child from serious illnesses and help them grow into healthy adults.
During your well-child visits, our team will:
-
Perform a comprehensive physical exam to ensure your child is healthy enough for vaccination.
-
Administer routine childhood immunizations according to the recommended schedule.
-
Discuss any concerns you may have and provide detailed information about each vaccine.
-
Keep a precise record of your child’s vaccination history.

Sports Physicals: Ensuring Your Young Athlete Plays Safely
As your child prepares for a new sports season, a pre-participation physical exam (PPE), or sports physical, is a crucial step in setting them up for a safe and successful experience. At COLFS Medical Clinic, we provide thorough sports physicals that go beyond just a signature on a form—they are a comprehensive health assessment designed to ensure your child is healthy enough to participate in their chosen sport.
Our goal is to identify any potential health risks, prevent injuries, and give you peace of mind knowing your athlete is ready for the field, court, or track.
What Does a Sports Physical Include?
Our sports physicals are tailored to assess the specific demands that athletic activity places on the body. The visit includes two main parts:
1. Medical History Review:
We will have a comprehensive discussion about your child's personal and family medical history. This includes reviewing:
-
Past injuries, surgeries, or hospitalizations.
-
Any existing health conditions (such as asthma or allergies).
-
A history of dizziness, chest pain, or fainting during exercise.
-
Family history of heart-related conditions.
2. Physical Examination:
Our healthcare provider will conduct a thorough physical exam, focusing on key areas related to athletic performance and safety, including:
-
Checking the heart and lungs.
-
Assessing vision and hearing.
-
Evaluating posture, joints, strength, and flexibility.
Following the exam, our provider will complete and sign any necessary pre-participation forms required by your child’s school or sports league.

Don't wait until the last minute before the season starts. Scheduling a sports physical in advance ensures there is ample time to address any concerns that may arise.

Parental Involvement: A Collaborative Approach to Care
At COLFS Medical Clinic, we recognize the importance of involving parents in every step of their child’s healthcare journey. We foster a collaborative approach to pediatric care, encouraging open communication and active involvement from parents. We understand that families may have different beliefs, values, and preferences regarding medical treatments and procedures, and we respect those decisions. Our goal is to provide care that aligns with your family's values while ensuring the best possible outcomes for your child.
During Well Child Visits, we provide parents with the opportunity to ask questions, discuss concerns, and seek advice about their child’s health. We take the time to explain treatment options and offer guidance, but we never pressure parents to make decisions that they are not comfortable with. By working together, we can ensure your child’s health and development are on the right track.
Flexible Payment Options: Making Healthcare Accessible
We believe that every child deserves access to high-quality healthcare, regardless of financial circumstances. That’s why COLFS Medical Clinic offers a variety of payment options to ensure that healthcare is accessible for all families. We accept most major insurance plans, making it easier for families to receive the care their child needs without worrying about coverage.
